Sacristans arrive approximately 20 minutes before Mass to set up everything needed in the Sanctuary for the celebration of the Liturgy. Sacristans also check to be sure sound system is on, sets proper pages in Lectionary and Sacramentary, turns on lights and makes sure candles are lit at an appropriate time. After Mass they ensure all the sacred vessels are returned to the sacristy where there are purified and cleaned for the next Liturgy.
