Prayers:

Your Child should know:

  • Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Meal Time Prayer, Act of Contrition, Sign of the Cross.

  • A sacrament is an outward sign instituted by Christ to give grace.
  • The Seven Sacraments are: Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist (Communion), Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders.

Commandments:

Your child should know:

  • I am the Lord your God, you shall not have strange gods before me.
  • You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain
  • Remember to keep holy the Lord’s Day.
  • Honor your Father and Mother.
  • You shall not kill.
  • You shall not commit adultery
  • You shall not steal.
  • You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor
  • You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.
  • You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.

Liturgical Year

Your child should know:

The Liturgical Year begins on the 1st Sunday of Advent

Advent is the 4 Sundays before Christmas.

Christmas is when Jesus was born.  It begins on Christmas Day.

Lent is when we pray and prepare to celebrate Jesus rising from the dead on Easter.

Ash Wednesday begins the Lent season.

During Lent we do not say or sing the Alleluia

Triduum means three days.  The three days before Easter.

Easter is when Jesus rose from the dead.  “Christ is risen”  Alleluia
