The Rourke/Lind Family

Let’s get to know the Rourke/Lind Family as they light the first Advent candle!

Pictured is Morgan (18), Freshman at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA; Patrick (14); a Freshman at Cherokee Highschool, and Liam (11), a 6th grader at St. Joan’s. Behind the camera is their mom, Meg Lind and their feline friend, Hennessey!

The Rourke/Lind Family has been coming to SJA for 18 years; “Both Morgan and Patrick graduated from St. Joan's and Liam is still at SJA.  I [Meg] am an alumni along with my 6 brothers and sisters. So we have been part of the St. Joan of Arc family for a long time (from Baptism through)!”

The theme for the first week of Advent is Hope.  As we enter the Christmas season and near the end of 2020, what are some things that you and your family hope for?  What do you hope for others?

“My family and I definitely hope for an end to this pandemic and the effects it has had on everyone!  We also hope for continued good health for ourselves and our family and friends. I think what I hope for others during this Christmas Season and into the new year is the hope for more inclusion, more love, more unity and more understanding and acceptance in our world.”

Advent 2020
STILL WAITING
Prayer for the First Week of Advent:
Light the first candle of your Advent Wreath for HOPE.
Then you, or another member of the household prays:
“Lord God, we light on this first candle to remind us
that Jesus Christ is the hope of the world!
May Christ bring hope to hearts
that are weary or heavy or sad.
May Christ lift our spirit
as we prepare our hearts and homes for Christmas.
Help us, Lord God, to be a light of hope
to all we meet during these Advent days.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ,
our Savior and Lord,
who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
Amen.”
Then all pray: Our Father …
